We are delighted to welcome all kinds of music, and all ages, whether you’re a solo or group singer, a rock band, classical duo a folk group etc etc, we would love to hear from you! This is a fun, spontaneous event, a great chance to play in front of a relaxed and friendly audience, and a chance to win cash prizes and publicity. Details are as follows;
Timing:
The event will be held as part of our monthly Farmers Market on Saturday 12th Sept, so we’ll have a crowd of shoppers, and hopefully the event will attract more visitors as well – please tell all your friends!
Running time will be 10am to 12.30, with each act designated a 15 minute slot. If you have a time preference, please let me know, otherwise, slots will be allocated after registration closes on the 9th Sept.
Prizes:
Judges will consider all acts and prizes will be given 12 – 12.30. Prizes will be cash, plus an invitation to return to play at future markets. There will be two age categories in the competition, depending on the age range of participants.
Photos:
Photos of winnning acts will be sent to the Currie and Balerno News for publication, and will be featured on the BVT website and Facebook page, provided we receive photo permission. A parental consent letter will be sent to under 18 participants, and we ask that your return this signed on the day. If you would rather not be photographed, please let us know in advance.
Performance Space:
Acts will perform in a gazebo in the middle of the market square by Main Street. We aim to have a second gazebo on site for performers’ use and for storing instruments etc. We will provide mikes and an amp for those who would like – but if you have your own, please let us know if you can bring it along!
Main St is the pedestrianised high street of Balerno Village. There is parking at the nearby Scotmid car-park, and it’s a few minutes’ walk from the 44 bus stop.
