Our Gardening After School Club have been busy this term planting lots of lovely vegetables in our vegetable garden around the back of our school – potatoes, carrots, salad, beans, peas, turnip, parsnips, cauliflower, cabbages, leeks as well as rhubarb and strawberries! We were all very excited this afternoon to see some of our seeds starting to come through!
We are now going to turn our attention to the gardens in the front playground and we are planning to plant some flowers and shrubs. We are wondering if anyone can help us over the next week couple of weeks by coming in and digging over the borders along the front of the infant classrooms for us? The earth has become very compacted and is too hard for the children to dig. We have gardening spades and forks in school you could use. If you can help out just pop into reception when you can come in and we can get everything you need for there.
We are also looking for any cuttings or plants you may have to spare to plant in these borders. If you do have any, please send them into school for us!
