We all enjoyed celebrating the 1+2 initiative that we have been involved with this year, with a whole school assembly on Thursday morning, hosted by Ms Fergusson our French and German teacher. Our assembly started off with a celebration of the European languages we currently have in our school with children who already have a second language or English as their second language saying hello and good morning in their own languages including Norwegian, Russian, Polish, Italian and Dutch.
Each year stage sang a song or told a story in French (songs about weather, colours, hello, the story of Very Hungry Caterpillar), with P7 rounding the assembly off with the tale of the 3 little Pigs in German. Mrs Spiller, the 1+2 Development Officer for the City of Edinburgh came along too and was very impressed with everyone’s hard work and clear pronunciation. It was great to see so many children (and staff!) dressed in the colours of either the French or German flags too! Thank you to Mrs Lairs, Mrs Moyes, Mrs Morrison and Miss McLean for organising this event. All in all another lovely celebration at Currie primary School!
