Interscholastics

On Monday 30th March twenty-two children from P6 and P7 represented the school at the Annual Edinburgh Primary School Association’s Interscholastic Sports, which was held at Meadowbank Stadium.  It was an excellent day all round with each of our children competing to the best of their ability in a number of athletic events covering both track and field.  We had some very good success on the track with all four of our relay teams (P6 and P7 boys and girls) finishing in second place in their heats.  The pressure was on to make the final and although three of our teams narrowly missed out our P6 boys’ team finished fourth in their semi-final to qualify.  With three teams finishing faster than them in their semi-final, a huge amount of determination and grit saw the team run an amazing race to finish second in the final and secure a silver medal.  Lucy Maloney ran extremely well to qualify for the final of the P7 Girls’ 80m sprint, narrowly missing out on a medal position. I was extremely proud of all our athletes who represented the school very well.  On the day there were a number of top performances from other schools with several records being broken by a variety of talented children.  None more so than the Girls’ High Jump with a new record being set at an incredible 1.51metres.  A thoroughly enjoyable and successful day was had by all and this event was a good end to the many sporting events we have taken place in this year.
