Message from Currie Primary Parent Council

Hi, I’m Lisa Syme and I’m the new chair of the Parent Council for Currie Primary School.

The Parent Council is an open forum comprised of senior staff members, parents and carers. We meet 6 times a year for 2 hours and discuss many aspects of school business. We aren’t involved in fundraising (the role is covered by the PTA), although traditionally we staff the cafe at the annual May Fayre.

The Parent Council is an excellent way to get more involved in the shaping of the school, but we desperately need more parents to take part. It’s not a big commitment, as a working parent I often cannot help with daytime volunteer roles like chaperoning school trips, but the Parent Council allows me to stay connected to the school.

Our first meeting is on Wednesday 7 September, from 7-9pm, in the school staff room. You are welcome to come along to see who we are and what we do, with no commitment. We especially need parents with children in the lower end of the school.

You can find the Parent Council webpage on the school website at https://currieprimary.com/parent-council.
