Currie P6’s Big Show

Scottish Opera introduced the world of theatre to Currie Primary on the 17th of April. In preparation for this, P6 have been working hard for the last term to perfect Vikings: Quest for the Dragons Treasure. This production tells the story of Vikings setting out on an epic quest to steal a Dragons treasure. This quest has its challenges as when crafty and rebellious sorcerers hatch an evil plan to steal the gems.

On the run up to the performance day, every spare moment we had was spent practising. The sound of singing echoed through the school and around the playground. We were all really excited about the performance and were counting down the weeks with frantic anticipation.

On the day, Scottish Opera spent the morning rehearsing with us. They taught us the transitions between songs and how to stand during our performances. They were blown away by how hard we had been practicing.

After all our rehearsals, we finally got to perform our show to our parents. Even though the costumes were hot it was worth it to see our parents proud smiles. The show was a huge success.

“I can honestly say that it was absolutely AMAZING!” remarked Mrs Pope after the show. Our headteacher, Mrs Hourston, said it was the best performance she had ever seen. We would like to thank the Scottish Opera and Currie Primary for giving us the opportunity to preform in this show. A huge thank you also to our teachers who helped and supported us along the way.
