Cards from Japan

Thomas in P3B went back to Japan to visit family and got to visit his old school Matsuno Elementary School in Hachimantai City. He spent a week with his former classmates at the school and enjoyed lessons in Japanese. On his return he did a wonderful presentation to the class about his time in Japan and the children loved hearing all about it!

P3B then decided to make and send Christmas cards to the children in Japan. The children in Japan then wrote cards back to P3B in Japanese wishing them a Happy New Year. They decorated the cards with wonderful illustrations. Mrs McAndrew also received a lovely letter in both Japanese/English from Yukiko Muto the teacher.

Thomas’ mum Satomi came into to class on Monday 17th February to give a talk about Japan and to translate the messages on the cards to the children. The children enjoyed listening to Satomi’s presentation and asked her lots of questions! Satomi also showed some of the children how to write their name in Japanese.
