What a rebel I’ve been!

P7 have once more taken part in the Pentland Book Groups Annual Schools writing competition. This year the children were asked to write a poem about a rebel. We were delighted to be notified this morning that Natalia Iwan’s entry has made it through to the finals which will be held at Currie Community High School on 24th of November 2018. We are all very proud of Natalia’s poem and wish her the very best of luck in the final round of judging. We will let you all know how she gets on. We thought you might like to read Natalia’s poem so here it is.

What a rebel I’ve been!

Fighting in the bus,
Swearing in the park.
Drinking ‘till I’m drunk,
Partying ‘till it’s dark.

Life’s for enjoying,
And not for regretting.
We’re the most popular at school,
Look at all the fame we are getting!

Blame equals shame,
So why should we own up?
Nerds are very unlovely,
So why not apply makeup?

We always steal lots of things,
Like gold, diamonds, and lots of money.
Thousands of people are calling the police,
Shrieking, “I’m being robbed! This is not funny!

Kicking bins in public,
The police are chasing us.
Vandalism is our hobby,
We don’t care about the fuss.

At least that’s what I thought,
Back when I was a teen.
I regret doing all these things,
Oh, what a rebel I’ve been!

19th of November to the 30th of November

We will be taking part in Switch Off Fortnight from the 19th to the 30th of November. We will be making sure that classes switch off their lights and electrical equipment when not in use. The Eco group will be doing spot checks around the classes to find the most energy efficient class with a certificate going to the best. We will also be aiming to have three power free hours each week of Switch Off Fortnight in class We hope everyone at home can be conscious of the energy they are using and think of practical ways to save.

Poppies

Some of our older pupils were busy today creating our beautiful display of poppies across our school gate to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Pupils and staff all made a poppy for the display which I am sure you will agree looks stunning. Thank you to everyone for sending in the empty plastic bottles for us over the last couple of week and a very special thank you to Mr Donaldson who drilled all the holes in the poppies so we could attach them to the gate.

Christmas Tree

P6 are preparing for the annual Christmas Fayre, which will take place in school on Wednesday 28 November 2018 from 1800 until 2000.

As usual, we will have lots of Christmas crafts for sale and fun games to play. We are currently looking for items that would be suitable for our Tombola stall and will be asking for donations of your delicious home baking nearer the time. If you have any Tombola items, please send them to Mrs Strange or Miss Wilson in P6.

Thank you for your continued support.
