We have once more enjoyed working with the Scottish Opera Schools Touring programme! This year the opera was called 1719, telling the story of the Jacobites. P7 have been working hard over the last few weeks to learn the songs and in the space on an hour and a half yesterday morning worked with staff from Scottish Opera to choreograph the show. P7 did an amazing job in such a short space of time and it was a very professional performance. We hope everyone who came to see it yesterday enjoyed it as much as we did.

The Edinburgh & District Burns Club Association Schools Competition

Congratulations to Fergus and Fatma who represented our school at the annual Edinburgh & District Burns Club Association poetry and song schools competition at St George’s School for Girls on Saturday. Fergus and Fatma both took part in the verse recital, Fergus in the P4 and P5 section and Fatma in the P6 and P7 section. Although neither Fergus nor Fatma were placed in their sections they both did a fantastic job and we were very proud of their efforts.
Rotary Primary Schools Quiz Success
This morning we went to Ratho Primary School to represent Currie in the annual Currie and Balerno Rotary Primary School Quiz. We had 3 teams of 4 – Red, Gold and Blue. Altogether there were 16 teams from Currie, Juniper Green, Dean Park, Nether Currie and Ratho. There were different rounds of questions, maths and numeracy, general knowledge, pot luck, observation, books, Scotland and its people and a couple of other rounds.
We are very proud of ourselves because we successfully defend the trophy with the Currie Red team coming first, the gold team were third and the blue team were seventh! We are excited to have the Currie Red team going onto the next round which will be against schools form across Edinburgh!

Well done everyone! We are all very proud of you.
A handful of pupils have successfully been invited to run at the next event at Duddingston Playing fields in March. Good luck to them.

Bake Sale Books

Primary 4 were the first class to hold a Bake Sale and were delighted to have £307 to spend on new books for our class libraries. Both classes created wish lists, priced the books and then ordered them. We were delighted when the first box of books arrived and can’t wait to get started reading. Thank you very much to everyone who donated and bought cakes.
