We enjoyed a visit from Mac-A-Story this morning for our Christmas Panto performances. It was a really interactive Panto with lots of pupil and staff involvement. Special well done to Mr Mackenzie and Mrs Holt for playing the part of Maid Marion in the different performances. A big thank you from everyone in school to the PTA for paying for these performances for us.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Lunch Room Team for making us a delicious Christmas Lunch yesterday! As always our Dinner Ladies went above and beyond to make this a special meal for use all.

We had a very exciting morning in school last week for our Inter-House Board Games Championship a brilliant idea from Tariq, Kughan and Maven in P7. The boys helped our House Captains organise and run the competition over the last few weeks with the finals on Thursday morning. P1-P3 played Snakes and Ladders and P4-P7 played Chess. The Pine Martins won the snakes and ladders event and the Golden Eagles won the chess side. By the time all the points were added together the Golden Eagles were overall champions of our board games competition. Congratulations Golden Eagles!

Congratulations to our Nursery, and to Mrs Hutton in particular who has been leading the work NSPCC work on Pantosaurus with our youngest pupils showing them how to keep themselves safe. Pantosaurus is a pant-wearing Dino who wants every child to stay safe and strong! Mrs Hutton had a lovely morning at The City Chambers last week picking up our Nursery’s Award for the “best pants display board’. Well done to everyone involved, we are really proud to receive this award and will display it prominently in our Nursery.

Thank you to everyone for coming along to support our P6 classes with their Christmas Market. It was lovely to see so many people and to have the school so busy. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Our P6 classes have been working so hard over the last few weeks making beautiful decorations and gifts to sell at their Christmas Market – wooly hats, gonks, bracelets, bags of reindeer food, hot chocolate reindeer, ring decorations, key rings etc. In addition we have some fabulous raffle prizes including a Christmas Hamper, Steven Brown McCoo picture and lots of vouchers including ones for the newly opened Lost Shore Surf Park and a car service and MOT. There will be a cafe, home baking, lots of games, Tombolla, pocket money stalls, balloons and so on + our school choir will be performing in the main hall around 4.45 pm. We hope you can come along and support this event on Thursday 28 November 2024 from 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm.

One of my favourite jobs in school each year is putting our Christmas Banners up in the hall. We have such creative and talented staff and pupils, each year they are just amazing and this year is no different! Come along to our P6 Christmas Market on Thursday between 4 pm and 6 pm and see them for yourselves!

As part of our celebrations for Scottish Book Week Currie Primary School were delighted to welcome author and illustrator Sophy Henn to school. Our pupil led Book Club and Primaries 1-4 were invited to meet Sophy in the Main Hall and learn about her style of illustration and the books she has created. We got to find out about how Sophy gets her ideas, the characters she has created, and we even got to make some of our own. We all did a fun draw along with Sophy and our finished characters looked great.
At the end there was a chance to buy one of her new Happy Hills books and Sophy wrote a personal message to each pupil who purchased one. Everyone really enjoyed the session and participated enthusiastically. Thank you to Sophy for coming and to The Scottish Book Trust who organised the tour.
