P5 at Currie Primary School took a trip up to our local library on Lanark Road. We played some games, for example we split into groups and the librarian told us what type of book to find. We also got to look for and borrow up to twelve books from the library. It is important that people keep borrowing books in order to keep the library open for the local community. The library has a great selection of children’s books for all ages and interests. We will be visiting every three weeks so we can return our books and borrow more. We love reading!

P3A celebrated Odd Socks Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week. We thought about what makes us special and unique. We believe that our differences should be celebrated, and we thought about the positive qualities that each child brings to our classroom. Everyone made an odd sock and their classmates added the words that describe the special person that they are! If you can be anything, be kind!

On Thursday the 7th of November, P7c at Currie Primary School were lucky to get a chance to go to the Art Of Listening workshop in the hub, on the high street. We were engrossed in classic music and music in general, whilst having loads of fun exploring types of music genres. P7c went on a coach to the hub on the 7th of November, however the other P7 classes are going in later November and early December. We were kindly greeted by a member of staff in the hall, to then be taken in to the main hall. Whilst we were taking in the amazingly decorated hall, another member of staff took us through a quick warmup game. After the game we sat down and someone played the piano and took us through the main facts, then the other person took us through vocals and his achievements. Whilst we had a 5 minute break, they set up little mats for us to have a quick lie down whilst they played their music. After we looked at how different animals can have differently tone to represent how gracefully or loud they were. When we were done with this task we left back on the coach, back to school for lunch.

We observed a minute of silence in school this morning as part of our work on Remembrance Day. Our P7 classes have created some beautiful displays around school, during French lessons with Mme Fergusson and in class.

Our first ever Currie Primary School Chess team were in an action all day today down at Broughton High School, taking part in a schools competition run by Lothian Junior Chess. Congratulations to Aadith, Tariq, Kugan and Saahir for coming 2nd in the P6/7 team event, in a very close competition, beaten by just 1 point after 3 tie breakers! And congratulations to Ainesh too, for coming 3rd with his team in the P5 and under competition! A very successful day for the boys and Currie Primary School!
