Thank you to everyone who donated a chocolate egg for Community for Food. These have not been collected from school ready for delivery later this week.

Our Nursery had a visit from Sergeant Kennedy on Tuesday.  This was such an exciting visit as it sparked lots of interest within the children. The children found out information about the Police. They tried on police vests, hats and looked at handcuffs.  We talked about how the police can help us, and what modes of transport they use. The children had a shot in the police van, pressing the siren/lights and sat in the back of the van

Well done to Stevie, Khugan, Murray and Maven who took part in the Euroquiz today! The team worked so well together through the 4 rounds, scoring really highly in the spoken and reading European languages which was very impressive. We are very proud of our Euroquiz team for 2024.

Thank you to Mr Miller and everyone at Currie Chieftains Rugby Club for organising a fun rugby festival for our P5s today.

Currie Primary pupils from P6 and P7 had the opportunity to take part in the Sports Hall Athletics Competition. On the 27^th of November 2023 we all made our way to Meadowbank Sports Centre. There were many different events such as 4 by 1 relay, 1 plus 1 relay, obstacle course and under and over. In most of our races we came in 1^st place! We also did really well in our field events which were long jump, triple jump, javelin, chest push and speed bounce. At the end the organisers revealed our scores and we had won 1^st place! We were excited and proud of our achievements. This meant that we had made it into the second round which was held in February. We competed in all the same events and although we didn’t win, we had a really good time.

On Monday the 4th of March, 40 Currie Primary senior pupils took part in a cross country running competition at the Meadows. Two of our P7s got a place in the top ten, Filip Adamczyk and Amelia Murray.

What is cross country?

Cross country is a running competition were you must pace yourself and run a substantial distance. It is incredibly difficult to get in the top ten and to not collapse of exhaustion. The thing that is unique about cross country is that they are generally rather long for example the one that we competed in was 1.3km long.

The set up

The first race was with the B schools at 10:30. A B race is a race with the smaller schools with only a couple hundred people in it. This was the P6 girls race then it moved on to the bigger schools. After that, the P6 boys ran and Finlay Miller came 8th.Then it was the P7’s turn. Again, the B schools and the girls went first. Then the bigger schools went and this was when Currie Primary did our school proud.  Amelia got fifth place. In the P7 boys race, Filip placed ninth. 

It was brilliant that 3 Currie Primary pupils placed in the top 10 of our races. We were very proud and very grateful to Mr Donaldson, our PE teacher for encouraging us.
