School Review

All Parents,

As per the letter from the Education, Children and Families Committee regarding the proposal to close Currie High School.

Thank you all so much for your tremendous response to the Parent Council Survey. We have collated the results and will be sharing high level themes and results with you shortly.

The next stage of this feedback process is to make your views heard or for you to supply feedback to Edinburgh Council on this proposal – please find the link below.

We have only until the 12th of December to do this, although we are aiming to get this date extended:

http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20263/edinburgh_schools_review/1660/west_and_south_west_schools_review/2

As the website is timing out after 15 mins please write up your feedback elsewhere initially and then copy this into the form.

If you have any questions about these proposals or if you wish to get involved with your parent council please contact us at parent_council_curriePS@outlook.com.

Eco Green Flag Award

After P6’s very successful Christmas Market the children walked up to the bottle bank to recycle the wine bottles from the water and wine stall. This type of thing helps the school to maintain their eco Green Flag Award.

Pentland Book Group Event

We had an exciting afternoon at The Pentland Book Group event held at Currie Community High School on Saturday. Our P4/5 Choir had their first performance and sang beautifully – we were all very proud of them. In addition, we had three winners from the Pentland Book Groups P7 short story competition where all the P7 pupils in all the schools in the Pentlands area were asked to write a short story of no more than 500 words entitled Peace At Last. Huge congratulations to Hannah and Christopher who were awarded a merit certificate for their entries and to Mary for coming 3rd out of all the school who took part!

P6 Christmas Market 2017

This year, P6 ran the Christmas Market on November 29th. It was really successful and we made a profit of over £1300! Thank you if you came along – we couldn’t have done it without you.

We had a wide range of items on sale including cake, Snow Slime and handmade decorations. There were fun games like Water or Wine, Carrot Dip, Santa Search and many more. The Tombola and Raffle were very popular, with both selling out before the end!

On Thursday, we sold the left over cakes to the school and then spent time counting up all the money and calculating the profit. It was a relief to find we had made one!

We all enjoyed the responsibility of running the Christmas Market and we hope you enjoyed it too.
