Staff up-date

Mrs Jack’s last day at Currie Primary will be Friday 15 September 2017 as she leaves us for 2 years to take up a secondment as Principal Teacher at Gilmerton Primary School. We will really miss Mrs Jack as a very valuable colleague and friend at school but we know she will go on to great things at Gilmerton and we wish her every success.

Mrs Holt will be joining our team as a permanent member of staff to take over from Mrs Jack in P3B and we are very much looking forward to welcoming her to our school and working with her.

School Photos 11.09.17 and 12.09.17

thCAPZLZA3

Our school photographer will be in school on Monday 11 September and Tuesday 12 September 2017 to take the children’s school photos which parents and carers will be able to buy. The photographer will be back in school on Friday 22 September to catch up with photographs of anyone who is not is school on the 11th or 12th of September.

This year we are planning to turn the school photos into a Curie Primary School Sticker Album – our P7 pupils will be co-ordinating this fund raising enterprise for us throughout the year. Each class, Nursery to P7 will have a section of the album and the children will be able to collect the stickers to complete their album. We have a few examples of these types of sticker books in school if you would like to get an idea of what our sticker book will be like. Only the children’s first names will appear in the sticker album so everyone knows where to sticker the stickers. No other personal details will be included.

If you do not wish your child to appear in our sticker album, or you do not want your child’s photograph taken by our school photographer, please contact school to let us know (you can contact school by telephone on 0131 449 3359 or by email at admin@currie-pri.edin.sch.uk). Even if you do not want your child’s photo to be included in the album their photograph will still be taken and you will be able to buy it if you want to.

If you would like to find out more about our school sticker book or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in school.

Meet the Teacher

It has been a busy first couple of weeks of the new school year here at Currie. We have had a number of new children joining us across our school, not just in P1 and everyone seems to be very quickly settling into our Currie ways. P7 are away at camp next week or following an alternative timetable of activities and our P7 children and staff are all very much looking forward to this week!

We would like to invite everyone to our annual Meet the Teacher event on Monday 4 September 2017 between 4 pm and 5 pm. This is an informal way for you to pop into school and see your children’s new classrooms and to meet their new teachers. We hope to see as many of our parents and families on the 4th as can make it.

Bonnes vacances!

Our expression de la semaine this week is, of course, ‘Bonnes vacances’ which means good holidays! It seems to have been a very fast year in school and it is hard to believe it is now the summer holidays! On behalf of all the staff in school we would like to thank all of our families and carers for the support you have given once more us over the year and we wish you all a bonnes vacances!

Sal’s Shoes

Thank you to everyone who left their shoes behind at the end of the day today for our Sal’s Shoes collection. There were so many pairs left and it is so good to think they are going  to someone who needs them. Many children braved the wet miserable weather and left school bare footed so well done to everyone who did this.
A huge thank you to Mrs Lumsdaine who has taken the shoes away and will arrange delivery to the Sal’s Shoes depot over the summer
