We are delighted to share the lovely news with everyone that Mrs Pope is expecting her second baby in August 2017, a little brother or sister for Hannah. Mrs Pope is keeping well and is planning to start her maternity leave at the summer holidays.

This week’s expression of the week or ‘expression de la semaine’ is
‘À demain’
which means see you tomorrow. As always it would be great if you could encourage the children to use this expression plus our previous expressions of the week at home as well as in school – merci beaucoup!
It was lovely to host the annual Primary School Rotary Quiz for the area here in school this morning. We had 3 teams entered and they all did really well with our Currie Gold Team coming third equal with a team from Ratho Primary. Congratulations to Dean Park Primary whose teams came first and second. Out teams all worked really well together throughout the quiz and it was lovely to be complemented on their good behaviour and manners from the score keepers with each team at the end of the quiz.
We met this afternoon with the Robbie Crockatt from the Schools Estates Team and Elaine Watson one of the planners for the council to begin to discuss an extension to our school as the role is predict to rise over the next few years. This would initially mean an additional 2 classes from August 2018, taking us to 17 classes, with more classes being added in the following year / years. At this point we really have no further information about where the extension will go or what it will look like. There are to be further planning meetings, one more before the Easter holidays, when hopefully we will be able to tell you more and an open meeting for all parents at some point after that.
We are looking for 2 parents that would be interested in being involved in the discussions over the extension as plans are formulated. If you are interested in being part of this group and available to attend meetings during the school day please contact us at school either by popping in to let us know, by telephone on 0131 449 3359 or email us a note of your interest on our school admin email – admin@currie-pri.edin.sch.uk.
In the meantime, if you have any concerns or comments about the planned extension please do not hesitate to speak to us and we will do our best to answer any questions you may have.

We will be celebrating Word Book Day in school this year on Thursday 2 March 2017. Each class will be involved in different activities associated with reading and books throughout the day. A couple of whole school events are planned as follows:
Come to school dressed as a character from your favourite book
and
A book exchange – bring a book to school you have finished reading and swap it for a different one (books must be in good condition).
Both of these activites are optional – children do not need to take part if they do not want to.

This week’s expression of the week or ‘expression de la semaine’ is
‘a bientot’
which means see you soon. Once more we would be grateful if you could encourage the children to use this expression plus our previous expressions / words of the week at home as well as in school – merci beaucoup!
Remember school is closed all of next week for the half term break. We will see everyone back in school on Monday 20 February 2017 at 8.45 am. We hope everyone enjoys the week off school.

We are trying a new way of sharing the work our pupils are involved in, in school, with parents and as a result we would like to invite you all to a House Coffee Morning on Friday 10 March 2017, to have a coffee with your child or children and the chance to look through all their jotters and work and chat with them about their progress. We are arranging the coffee mornings as follows
Eagles – 9.00 am in the Main Hall
Otters – 9.00 am in the Gym Hall
Pine Martins – 11.00 am in the Main Hall.
We hope you can make it along at these times. If you can’t we will send the work home over the weekend but will need it back on Monday 13 March 2017. This will replace the week of Wonderful Work jotters that normally come home just before Parent’s Evenings as many people have commented that they would like to see all the work, not just a snap shot.
