House Coffee Mornings

Thank you to everyone for coming along to our first House Coffee Mornings on Friday to give you a chance to look at your children’s work with them in school. This was the first time we have done anything like this and we were not sure how they would go. We are aware the early Coffee Morning in particular was a little chaotic but we have been overwhelmed by the very positive feedback from many people who came along. We will look to refine them for the future!

Spring Discos

Great fun was had last night at the Spring Discos. We all enjoyed our new DJ who kept everyone dancing, singing and playing games all night!! A huge thank you to the PTA for organising such a successful and fun evening and to all the parents who came along on to help with supervision during the disco. We couldn’t do it without you all and we are really grateful for your help and support.

Loose Play Materials

We took delivery this morning of some of the new loose play resources for our playground – 24 stacking crates. I am not sure which the children enjoyed more – the crates or the boxes they came in! It was amazing to see the all the different imaginative ways the crates (and boxes) were played with. Think we will need to include empty cardboard boxes in our playground more often!

World Book Day at Currie Primary School

We had great fun celebrating World Book Day in school last week with lots of pupils and staff coming to school dressed as characters from books. There was a variety of activities on in school throughout the day to celebrate books and reading – book exchange, drop everything and read every time bell rang, writing stories etc. Some classes enjoyed a visit from a local author children’s author Karen Chilvers and her dog Stanley, the hero from her book ‘Tzu Kingdom’.

This week’s expression of the week or ‘expression de la semaine’ is

‘Je suis désolé’

which means I am sorry. As always it would be great if you could encourage the children to use this expression plus our previous expressions of the week at home as well as in school – merci beaucoup!

New books

Thank you to Tesco for the very kind donation of 20 copies of both the ‘Guinness World Book of Records 2017’ and ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Unlock the Weird 2017’ which arrived on World Book Day. We have put copies in the library and in the classrooms so everyone can enjoy these fantastic books. The Guinness World Book of Records is always a favorite with our pupils – watch out for these books coming home over the next few weeks and months!
