A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to do something to raise money for people who were sick. I know that people at our school have had to get help from the Sick Children’s Hospital before, for things like broken bones, and when they have something more serious wrong with them, like having cancer, cystic fibrosis, and brain tumours. I really wanted to do a sponsored swim, but that was going to be very difficult because of the current pandemic, so my mum helped me decide to do a walk for 5 miles around Pentland Park. We set up a just giving page (www.justgiving.com/jacobburnett1) which meant that people could donate online. We walked around the park one day and worked out we had to walk round the park 14 times (which was 5 miles). After we set up the fundraising page, I received an email from the person in charge of fundraising at the hospital who posted me out a T-shirt to wear when I was doing my walk and some stickers.
On the day of the walk the weather was horrible (storm Aiden to be exact). My jacket stopped being waterproof because the rain was so heavy !!!!!!!!! The walk around the park was very boring and there were times when I really wanted to give up, but I didn’t. It wasn’t a really long distance, but it was hard to keep going round in circles. I was kept going by remembering all the people who had donated and knowing that the money would hopefully help people in the hospital to get medicines and maybe buy them some Christmas presents too.
My current total is £410. THANK YOU PEOPLE WHO SPONSORED ME!!!!!.
