Nursery 1140 Hours Update

Nursery Places August 2020

The Scottish Government announced this week that that we are to postpone the requirement to provide 1140 hours from August 2020. This means that the City of Edinburgh’s Early Years` team will need to look at the provision of Early Learning and Childcare across the city for August on a setting by setting basis and agree on provisions that we are able to offer families. This provision may well look quite different from what was previously planned and may cause concern to parents/carers whom have already put plans in place. We will try to ensure that families have access to 600 hours until such times as the infrastructure and workforce are in place to phase in 1140 provision.

Please see attached the letter from City of Edinburgh Council.

Nursery places August CEC Letter April 1st

You will hear from us after Easter about Nursery places.

Kind regards

Home Learning Day 6

Week 2 of Home Learning is underway and so far it looks like the enthusiasm and motivation for work is still strong among so many of our pupils. It is great to see the creative and imaginative ways everyone is tackling the work sent home. I was briefly at school this morning after being at our Hub at Firrhill and it was lovely to see so many rainbows on windows and garage doors! We are enjoying seeing and reading about the positivity jars and random acts of kindness going on too. Keep up the good work Currie Primary School.

Key Worker

Parents who are Key workers should receive an email today from the authority indicating which of the HUB schools your child has been allocated a place in. Please remember to email and let the HUB know of you intend to take up this space so they can ensure the correct ratios of staff to pupils is in place. You will need to take a proof of employment (e.g. staff badge) with you to show you are deemed a key worker when you drop off your child. Please refer to the  flow chart below which indicates if you qualify for a space in the HUB schools. We would be grateful if you could also email us and let us know which HUB your child will be.
