P6 have been learning about water conservation

We enjoyed welcoming Scottish Opera to school to work with our P7 classes on a production of Dragons of the Western Sea! A sumamry of the story is as follows:

The Emperor of Ming dynasty China, Zhu Di, decides to send out an enormous fleet of nine-masted ships, each the length of three football pitches, in order to increase China’s trade and influence in the mysterious lands to the west. Each ship is laden with fabulous treasure which will be distributed wherever they make friendly landfall. The Emperor chooses his old, trusted friend, Admiral Zheng He, to lead the expedition. During the expedition the ships sail to India, Africa and fight with pirates in the Persian Sea before arriving back home in China.

Our P7 have worked hard to learn the songs and music over the last 3 weeks and spent the day on Wednesday with members of the Scottish Opera on the choreography of the show. The costumes were amazing and P7 did a fantastic job performing for our classes and their parents and family members. It really was an amazing show! We were all really proud of the way P7 became so involved with and enthusiastic about this event and so obviously enjoyed it as, you will see from the photos!  Well done everyone!

We enjoyed our annual Scottish assembly in school on Friday with the winners of our Scots verse recital competition entertaining us with their Scots poems. It was fantastic to see so many of our younger children tackling Burns poems! We also enjoyed watching some of our children performing their Highland dancing and for the first time we enjoyed seeing Poppy’s Irish dancing too! As always we love to see and hear our violinist perform for us all too. A big thank you to Jamie Barton who took some time away from Currie Community High School to pipe us all into assembly and to accompany some of our P1 dancers. Our dancers this year were Jessica, Bethan, Sophie, Emily, Poppy, Harry, Toby, Murray, Fraser, Ellie, Kelsey and Caragh. Congratulations to all our Scots verse winners P1 – Hartley, Saul, Madison, Emma, Aisling, and Abi, P2 – Ailie, Cameron and Murray, P3 – Robyn and Jacob, P4 – Lawrence and Benjamin,  P5 – Jayden and Ruaridh and P6 Artie and Fatma. Thank you to all the parents and family members who came into join us for this assembly. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Our Nursery have all been celebrating Burns day and all thing Scottish. We hope everyone enjoys the video of the morning children singing, ‘3 Craws Sat Upon a Wa’.

Please remember about the Online Safety Parents workshop we are running here in school on 7 February 2018. The workshop will last 1 hour and, as it says on the poster above, it will help you as parents and carers to keep their children safe while they are online.

We are very excited to be launching our school Sticker Book  on Thursday 25 January 2018. The children who have ordered a sticker book will be able to pick them up and everyone who wants to will be able to buy packs of stickers to start collecting. P7 will be giving out the sticker books and selling the sticker, priced at 50p per pack on Thursday and at break time every day from Friday onwards so the children will be able to buy some stickers for their collections whenever they want to or have saved up their pocket money. Staff will also have packets of stickers to give out, as prizes in class so there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone who wants to, to collect.
