Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper day

Thank you to everyone for supporting Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day in school today by wearing Christmas jumpers. It was also our school Christmas Service this morning and it was a very bright and colourful gathering. The service this year was led by some of our P7s with Amy, Sean, Charlie, Ross, Rosie, Macy, Eva and Owen doing the readings and Mackenzie and Karis acting out a short play called ‘The Biggest and Best Gift in the World’, that got everyone thinking about love, helpfulness, kindness and manners being the best present everyone can give. We also enjoyed some musical entertainment form our violin and brass instrumentalists as well as from our school choir and P7 Music Ensemble group.

Nursery Newsletter December 16

Firstly, our new Nursery teacher, Miss Sturrock, would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and parents/carers for the warm welcome she has received here at Currie. She looks forward to working with you all in the future and getting to know the families better.

Christmas Activities

The children have been busy in the Nursery getting into the Christmas spirit through a variety of different activities! You will find them…

  • Making festive crafts from materials available in the craft room
  • Re-enacting the Nativity using costumes and props
  • Singing Christmas songs and listening to Christmas stories
  • Playing in the home corner which is now equipped with Santa suits, pyjamas and Christmas stockings.

Christmas Cards

Children are always keen to send Christmas cards to their Nursery friends but we ask that if you are giving out cards, you write one card only to the whole Nursery, which we will then share with children at group time. Thank you for your support in this.

End of term Celebrations

The Christmas parties are fast approaching and we would like to invite parents to come and join in the fun, listening to Christmas songs and getting to meet Santa Claus himself! A reminder of the dates and times:

  • Morning children: Thursday 21st December at 11am
  • Afternoon children: Wednesday 20th December at 2.45am

New Children 2017

Panto Trip

Tomorrow, Tuesday 13 December 2016 is Panto day for P1 – P6. The children should bring a snack to eat at the interval of the Panto and a bottle of water (please don’t send juice as this is very sticky when it is spilt) and a packed lunch which we will eat when we return to school. The children can also wear Christmas Jumpers / t-shirts, Santa hats etc. if they would like to.

We have 9 coaches arriving first think in the morning to take us all to the Panto – we would appreciate it if parents do not park on Curriehill Road tomorrow morning so we can leave spaces for the coaches to park and for other cars, buses etc. to get passed. Many thanks in advance for your cooperation with this.

School T-Towels

Some people have been asking what our school t-towels look like before they order them so we have attached a couple of photos above. The children all drew a picture of themselves which have been printed onto the t-towels. We only have a few left so if you would like one please order on Wisepay soon to avoid disappointment – they are £4 each and will make a great stocking filler or keep sake!

Och Aye the News!

Thank you to everyone who came along to see our P2 Nativity in school this morning, Och Aye the News. P2 did a fantastic job of telling us the Christmas story with this new Nativity Show which Mrs McGlynn and Miss Perry adapted to fit our school. They acted and sang so confidently, we were very proud of everyone’s performance. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Christmas in P7, 2016

P7 have voted overwhelmingly to donate the money their teachers would have spent on them to the local Forth One Mission Christmas Appeal. This appeal gives Christmas presents to children around the city who are less fortunate than us in Currie. We have to say we are very proud of the choice the children have made. This decision will hopefully make other children in the city very happy on Christmas morning.
