Currie Cross Country News!

On Monday the 4th of March, 40 Currie Primary senior pupils took part in a cross country running competition at the Meadows. Two of our P7s got a place in the top ten, Filip Adamczyk and Amelia Murray.

What is cross country?

Cross country is a running competition were you must pace yourself and run a substantial distance. It is incredibly difficult to get in the top ten and to not collapse of exhaustion. The thing that is unique about cross country is that they are generally rather long for example the one that we competed in was 1.3km long.

The set up

The first race was with the B schools at 10:30. A B race is a race with the smaller schools with only a couple hundred people in it. This was the P6 girls race then it moved on to the bigger schools. After that, the P6 boys ran and Finlay Miller came 8th.Then it was the P7’s turn. Again, the B schools and the girls went first. Then the bigger schools went and this was when Currie Primary did our school proud.  Amelia got fifth place. In the P7 boys race, Filip placed ninth.

It was brilliant that 3 Currie Primary pupils placed in the top 10 of our races. We were very proud and very grateful to Mr Donaldson, our PE teacher for encouraging us.

Edinburgh’s Vision for Inclusion

Inclusion should be at the heart of everything we do in our schools and learning communities. We’re committed to recognising diversity, minimising exclusion and supporting our children and young people to achieve their full potential.

A recent improvement project involving experts from across Scotland found that we have much to celebrate in our vision and approach, but also made recommendations for improvement. We want your views on how we can make these improvements

World Book Day Story by P7C

P7c came to school dressed as different words or characters and together, the class wrote a short story using all the words and character names which are underlined and in bold. Here is the story:

Walking into his house, Mr Clumsy was so exhausted after dance, he looked forward to the weekend, when he could eat crisps, be lazy and watch footy on his cosy couch.

The inquisitive Little Miss Naughty went to visit Mr Clumsy.

‘Hello, Mr Clumsy how are you?’ asked Little Miss Naughty.

‘Hello, Little Miss Naughty, I’m feeling sleepy. How are you?’

‘I’m feeling tired, not at all sporty,’ replied Little Miss Naughty.

They decided to go on an informal date; Mr Clumsy dressed formally, and Little Miss Naughty dressed informally. It was a rather boring date, but Mr Clumsy was the ying to Little Miss Naughty’s yang. They made a dreamy couple. The weekend ended up being far from mundane; in fact, it was a happy ending to the weekend!
