Meet the Teacher
It has been a busy first couple of weeks of the new school year here at Currie. We have had a number of new children joining us across our school, not just in P1 and everyone seems to be very quickly settling into our Currie ways. P7 are away at camp next week or following an alternative timetable of activities and our P7 children and staff are all very much looking forward to this week!
We would like to invite everyone to our annual Meet the Teacher event on Monday 4 September 2017 between 4 pm and 5 pm. This is an informal way for you to pop into school and see your children’s new classrooms and to meet their new teachers. We hope to see as many of our parents and families on the 4th as can make it.

Back to school
I hope you have all had a lovely summer break! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Wednesday 16 August 2017. In case anyone still has a few last minute items of school uniform to get before school starts our ‘Nearly New School Uniform Shop’ is up and running with a great selection of school polo shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, trousers, PE kit etc. It really is worth a look so pop into school whenever you are passing!
See you on Wednesday!

Bonnes vacances!
Our expression de la semaine this week is, of course, ‘Bonnes vacances’ which means good holidays! It seems to have been a very fast year in school and it is hard to believe it is now the summer holidays! On behalf of all the staff in school we would like to thank all of our families and carers for the support you have given once more us over the year and we wish you all a bonnes vacances!
Sal’s Shoes
Thank you to everyone who left their shoes behind at the end of the day today for our Sal’s Shoes collection. There were so many pairs left and it is so good to think they are going to someone who needs them. Many children braved the wet miserable weather and left school bare footed so well done to everyone who did this.
A huge thank you to Mrs Lumsdaine who has taken the shoes away and will arrange delivery to the Sal’s Shoes depot over the summer
Staff update

Mrs Cunningham had her baby last night, Finn, a little bother for Eve. Both mum and bay are doing well!
Once Upon A Dream
A number of children in our school have had poems they have written this year published in a book called ‘Once Upon A Dream’, which is a book of poems written by children from across the East of Scotland. We were delighted that one of our pupils, Bethany Erskine’s poem was chosen as the best poem in the book and has been used as the opening poem. We thought you might all like to read Bethany’s poem so here it is.
Lost
As I clamber into the warmth of my bed
And sink into its snug confines
My head comes to rest onto my comfy pillow
And suddenly everything goes black…
I am lost in a magical paradise
As I stare at the sky
The stars are as bright as the sun as they twinkle
Colours clash like swords in a fight for life and death
I see a vast forest emitting a wonderful glow
Intrigues, I move towards it and wander into the green ahead
I hear the gush of water in the distance
As I gaze upon a pool of gleaming water it plays a soft, sweet melody to me
Nearby, an angry waterfall rages, sending the rapids in every direction
White froth forms near me in clumps like stepping stones
I try to step, but missed and fall into the refreshing cool,
It carries me along and through the majestic waterfall and into a large cavern.
Treasure lies in colossal piles in almost every available space
As I walk towards them, enchanted…
And then, an emerald dragon awakens from his deep slumber,
It rears u [as it spots me and I close my eyes in dread.
I sit up sharply, safe in my bed,
Then I lie back down and rest my head,
Ring! Ring! My alarm clock sounds,
It’s morning now so off I bound.
