Thank you to everyone who has been dropping the blue voting tokens from Tesco into our box in Edinburgh over the last 4 weeks. The voting continues until the 29th of April 2017 so please keep voting for us! Although we appear to be in the lead in the Tesco at Hermiston Gait, we are not winning in all the other boxes in Tesco stores around the city so every token counts!
House Quiz
Our House Captains organised our first ever House Quiz for everyone this week which was great fun. We had 2 quizzes the first for P1 – P3 and the second P4-P7. There were 10 rounds including music, books, sports and hobbies, history, geography, famous people, sports and TV and film and general knowledge. The final scores were very close with the Golden Eagles winning the P1 – P3 Quiz and the Pine Martins winning the P4 – P7 quiz. However, after adding up all the scores the overall winners of our first ever House Quiz are the Golden Eagles! Congratulations to everyone in the Golden Eagles House! A huge thank you to Emily, Hannah, Dylan, Muhammad Ali, Adam and Sam our House Captains for organising the quiz and coming up with all the questions!
Currie Primary Hockey Team

We are delighted to have a Currire Primary hockey team for the first time this year, who played their first match yesterday. Although a very experienced Nether Currie team beat us 5-3 Miss Mackay and Mrs Elliott were very proud and pleased how the P7 team played .
Everyone enjoyed themselves and Currie came away pleased with the way they played on a fast concrete pitch.
The P7s also wore the new school strips and I am sure you will agree they look very smart!
Comic Relief Total

A huge congratulation to everyone in P7 for raising £1683.37 through the different events they organised for us all for Comic Relief. This is a fantastic total and has been sent off today.
Friday Dress Down Day!
Friday is a dress down day – children can wear their own clothes to school if they want to! Remember Easter Bonnets are also for Friday if the chidlrenwant to make and wear one to school!
Expression de la semain

Our final ‘expression de la semaine’ for this term is
‘Joyeuses Pâques’
which means, ‘Happy Easter’. Once more it would be great if you could encourage the children to use this expression plus our previous expressions of the week at home as well as in school – merci beaucoup!
Comic Relief 2017
P7 organised a fantastic Comic Relief day for us all on Friday! Thank you to everyone for the delicious cakes for the Bake Sale and for the very generous donations for Soak the Teacher! I think the children really enjoyed this event as you can see in these photos!! We were all pretty wet by 12 o’clock! P7 will count the money raised at the beginning of the week and we will let you all know the total amount before we send it off to Comic Relief.
Let the Kids Play Out

The days of children playing hopscotch and skipping in the street may seem long gone, but thanks to a scheme we’ve just launched, residents can arrange for their road to be closed off (free of charge) up to five times for outdoor play between 1 April and 31 August.
Applications are now open for Edinburgh Playing Out, with guidelines advising what kind of streets are eligible.
Lucy Richardson, of local group Edinburgh Playing Out, said: “This is a great initiative from the Council, giving residents up to five free street closures for street play from now until the end of August.
“Children love unstructured play close to home and once children are playing on the street, people of all ages come out and chat to their neighbours and join in the freedom of a traffic-free street. It’s healthy and it’s fun. Let the children play – apply now!”
